Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) is the term used to describe various methods of communication that can ‘add-on’ to speech and are used to get around problems with ordinary speech.

These boards were designed to help post-op patients & patients with language barriers in their communication with hospital staff. The idea was to make them clear and to avoid creating ‘childish’ or dehumanising imagery.
